It was a great day when the Bookshop reopened to our book-loving customers on Tuesday for the first time since closing our doors over three months ago.
It was a busy day for all the volunteers rostered on and charged with maintaining our Covid-19 cleaning and social distancing practices throughout the Bookshop. From front desk staff meeting and greeting and managing customer numbers (we can have a maximum of 10 customers in the shop), to the back room where volunteers were methodically bagging and tagging donations which will wait out three days of quarantine before being processed.
We wish to thank everyone for all the interest and encouragement over the enforced hiatus of Covid-19 – an enthusiasm which continued on Tuesday as customers patiently lined up outside awaiting their turn to enter, or called by to drop off book donations. And to top it all off our total takings for the day set a new Bookshop record! A great day indeed. 🙂
Just a reminder that until early August, the Bookshop’s temporary opening hours are:
Tuesdays: 8am – 4pm
Thursdays: 10am – 4pm
Saturdays: 10am – 1pm
And if you listen to Peter Goers on ABC 891, you may have caught a chat on Tuesday evening with Bob Knight – our Co-Chair of the Bookshop’s Management Committee – talking about our reopening. Even this website got a mention! 🙂
We look forward to seeing you at the Bookshop soon!
